Household debt to income levels around Europe

Many UK readers might have assumed that British households were the most indebted in Europe, if not the world. Not so. The following chart shows you gross household debt levels in comparison with income across selected EU countries.

As you can see, far from being at the top of the list, the UK is actually quite low down in the ranks. By far the biggest country in this ranking is Denmark.
